Hi, I’m Alice
About me? Well first I have Xtreme AnXiety, because everything is extreme these days. I also have depression. These two illnesses make me look at an About Me page and freak out because I have no idea what to write and then I feel like a dope getting anxious over an About Me page and I say, eh, I’ll do it later after a nap.
I am more than my illnesses, of course. I am a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a library assistant, an artist, a writer, and other stuff I can’t think of right now. My greatest joys are my two daughters who are eight
and twelve, and my laptop, which I call my precious. Oh, my husband is okay too.
I am thirty something or other and have worked several jobs including coffee shop girl, university teaching assistant, day care provider, temp worker, public library assistant, ticket taker, and stay-at-home-and-watch-T.V.-and-sometimes-children-mom. I am currently a university library assistant working in Archives and Special Collections. I’m also a writer, and have been since I could pick up a pen, though I haven’t published
anything professionally. I am told one has to submit work in order to do that. I am still investigating this.
I am a very good student, which it turns out prepares you to be a very good student. Thus I am over-educated. I have a BA and an MA in English and an MLS in Library Science. The English degrees obviously do not mean I am an expert in grammar, as you can see if you’ve been reading thus far.
My greatest defense mechanism is humor, and so my personal blog is basically one big defense mechanism. It is also how I cope. I’ve found in my life that many things that happen to me are often humorous in retrospect, if looked at through a different lens. Many, many people have helped me over the years, and I hope through this blog I can help someone else. Or at least make them laugh a little.
