It was the best of times and it was the worst of times

Well, hello there.

I have been very absent from Canvas in the last few months.

For those who don’t follow my blog or never quite made it there in a while, here’s the skinny. I was an inpatient at a mental health unit for three weeks in September/October 2013. From there, I was referred to a four-week Day Hospital program that kept me quite busy. Then in early December, I had a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack) that led to loss of consciousness and a concussion that sent me back to the hospital. In mid-December, I had a somewhat gruesome dental surgery that later on got complicated with infection. And as if all that weren’t enough, my son ended up in the Intensive Care Unit due to multiple seizures that caused kidney failure.

You know, just your usual it was the best of times and it was the worst of times.

Yes, there were some good times but holy cow, there were moments when I thought I was not going to make it! (well, not really, but despair was just around the corner).

But what kept me going was the massive support and love I got from so many people, specially my Canvas family. You truly lifted me up and carried me through all the difficult times. You and of course, my amazing daughter and my equally amazing manfriend* [this one is for you, Cate!].

So, I just want to thank you again. You guys rock and I am ever lucky to be part of such a great family.

Why yes, you have!

Why yes, you have!

Incidentally, I’ve been trying to catch up with my blog reading. Wow, all the way back to September. And there are new members too! How exciting. And of course, there’s the Blog For Mental Health Project. I have missed so much.

I feel bad cause you all have been so supportive and I pretty much abandoned you all. I will try my best to pay you a visit and get up to date with your lives.

If I don’t quite make it, please forgive me. There are dozens and dozens of posts that I haven’t read yet. But I still love you all!

  1. You wrote, “I feel bad cause you all have been so supportive and I pretty much abandoned you all.” Um, please don’t feel bad! I wasn’t even a part of this blogging community until recently (2014) so you didn’t abandon me. More importantly, you had things going on that took priority over blogging – reading or writing. I’m so sorry about all you’ve been through. Wow. Thank you so much for sharing “the skinny.” I’m so glad you are ok (relatively speaking) and I appreciate your vulnerability and look forward to reading more of what you write. ❤

  2. Truly a case of when you think it can’t get any worse…It’s great that you are back after all you have been through. What a great reminder to be thankful for all that you have. You never know what’s around the corner. x

  3. Yay! You’re back, and I’m hoping the bad times are over. Just good times now, or at least for a while. I admit I had a blank moment that comes with early morning. I thought “why is she giving me her manfriend?” And then it clicked. I’m a little slow while still consuming my coffee. It will be interesting to see if Canvas can probably a wider definition. Meanwhile have fun with your manfriend. 😀
